Welcome to MaaChild

MaaChildThe MaaChild roots are flourishing in the Kenyan soil with the help of our UK.volunteers, the Maasai volunteers and Eco-adventures Ltd. This will now give strength to the Maasai children to grow, develop and endure the changes afoot over the coming years.

Having received free primary education many children have no choice or chance to continue their studies. The aim of MaaChild is to take the brightest children and help them achieve their dreams with an educational bursary by providing 4 years of secondary schooling, a dream for many kids in this part of Kenya.

"Small gestures, which seem like tiny droplets when originating here in the green Ribble Valley, create ripples which become mighty waves of opportunity when they reach the plains of Southern Kenya"

Our Students

We provide secondary school bursaries to students of the Kuku Group Ranch situated near the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. In conjunction with the local community we develop a programme of continuing and sustainable support to improve educational entitlement for the Maasai children in this area.

The Community

The Maasai community in Kenya, benefit by children who have the ability but no means to pay for their education or training to progress beyond the entitlement the have to primary education only. By providing secondary education the Maachild students will be able to make a useful contribution to the wider understanding of the issues that their community may face in the coming years in response to development and globalisation. Not only will they be capable to offer an informed critical political voice, the Maachild students will also be competent to represent their community both locally or nationally and ; to contribute financially towards community or social benefits such as teachers, nurses etc.

Our Commitment

We are a self contained charitable organisation working with our Maasai representatives. Our funds raised guarantee a full 4 year cycle of secondary education for selected students - only supporting when we know the funds are in place. We have strict criteria for the selection of students, working in partnership with our local Maasai team to ensure these are maintained.
